(6) The end has arrived

when i joined up at Ruxley for the winter ticket i was really looking foreword to fishing the lakes to see what monsters lie below and months later im still wondering what monsters lie below but im not going to be one of the ones to find out (not currently anyway), Ruxley lakes do hold some real cracking carp, i have seen photos of big mirrors and commons that have come out of the lakes, i only had 1 fish in the time i was there and that was also a cracking fish but i don't have the time that a lake like this needs in order to catch the big carp, you don't need to be an amazing angler to catch these fish but you do need to put loads of time and effort in to the lakes, there are allot of members that spend there time hunting down the fish thy want to catch, some turn up at 1am and walk round with there head torchs on searching out where there target fish are holding out and others spend weeks turning up and pre-baiting spots to fish down the line but im afraid i don't have that sort of time on my hands, i like to put effort in don't get me wrong, i don't mind pre-baiting and searching for fish but Ruxley is a hole nother level.

there are also some other things that i have had a little hang up about but these are all personal to me and should not be taken by you (the reader) as bad points of the club its self.

need more swims on big lake and swims that are already there could do with clearing and making bigger, i would have liked to see the other side of the big lake with some swims in it but this from what i have been told is not possible, also when wet its gets so muddy in places and a little wood chip wouldn't go a miss.

maybe its just that i have been spoilt over the years with nice swims and not blanking 5 times in a row but i go fishing to catch fish big or small carp or tench but this place has screwed my noodle, spending night after night, week after week with out as much as a bleep, for me its not my type of lake at the moment, if i was single and dident have 3 kids a loving with and a dog and had the time on my hands to really crack this lake then things might be different but for me right now the time that i would need is something i don't have.

the club its self is full of nice guys, it can be a little secretive i mean don't exspect everyone to talk to you down there as thy have there own agenders and goals that thy want to hit and thy trust no one, but 60% of them will talk to you and you can chat for hours, the club is going from strength to strength and thy have allot of plans for improving the place from adding swims to cleaning up ones that are allready there, even talks of getting electric down there witch would be good.

so my last words will be if you have the time to invest and you want to catch some cracking monsters then this might be the place for you, me on the other hand i will be hitting another set of club waters very soon so keep your eyes on the blogs and hope to be back soon.
