Rhino Tech - V2 Beam DSLR Camera Light Review

I was sceptical about this light when i 1st come across it in the tackle shop, i mean i have a cannon 550d and i always trusted that the flash is all i would need on it to get a crisp shot, here is what it states on the rhino website.

"Light up the dark with the new super bright Rhino Beam DSLR camera light.

Your night shots will never be the same."

And they where not wrong, i would tell anyone and everyone who is in to carp fishing or in to photography for that mater to go buy one of these, wether its getting nicely lit photos of of fish at night or if its adding a little light to the forefront of a night shot this light will cover all you need, its slots on to the hot sho of your dslr so nice and easy to mount, there is on off and on switch on top and a dim-bright wheel on the side, it couldn't get much easier than that, set the sling up in front and put the camera on the tripod with the light on top, turn it on and do some test shots to get the light at the right level then your set to get some real nice shots of your fish at night, no more waiting for the camera to focus and waiting for the flash to go off, as long as you have the level of the light set right every shot will be a nice one.

Here are all the things i like about this, its supplied with 2 defusers, one clear and other one orange just in case you want a warmer shot, these are really easy to change in fact it takes seconds as thay are mounted with magnets and one covers the led cluster and the other covers the battery compartment so its just a matter of swapping them round when need be.

Now i believe you can buy them with a rechargeable power pack or the slightly cheaper one comes with out it and you run it from 4aa batteries instead, the usb port will only charge it if it has the pack fitted but one thing i have worked out is you can run the light without the batteries fitted from the usb port, i run mine from my bivvy power pack, the pack only runs a 5v usb port so the light is not as bright as it would be with full batteries in it but it is plenty for taking shots at night.

Another little bonus is that you can get a bank stick adapter for the light to sit on, this is good when taking shots for some one else and you want to keep the light source in one place, you can then be more mobil with the camera to get some real nice lit side view shots, also its good for back lighting shots, for instance if you wanted to get a shot of the silhouette of your bivvy/setup but wanted to see the tree behind it better, you can just put the bank stick behind the bivvy lighting up the trees above, real nice thing to have.

summery is that this little bit of kit will make your shots look allot better but dont expect to get pro looking shots just by buying this light, it will still take work from you and from the settings you have on your camera to get award winning photos.
